问题在于 Python 如何处理全局变量和局部变量。

基本上,如果不需要全局变量,应该避免使用。在许多语言中,意外更改全局变量的值太容易了,因此 Python 让我们明确声明我们想要更改它 - 使用 global 关键字。

如果仅从中读取全局变量,则代码有效,因为Python按顺序查找变量:不是局部变量?进一步检查......等等,直到它达到全球范围。

但是通过添加赋值(没有 global 关键字),Python 在局部范围内看到它并假定该变量在整个函数中是局部的 - 并使其失败,因为该变量已被读取从作业之前开始 - print(portOpen) 失败了,而不是作业本身(!)。 (谢天谢地,它们靠得太近了,以至于错误消息意外地起到了帮助。)

global portOpen 向解释器表明赋值没有创建新的局部变量,因此所有读取和赋值都开始正常工作。
